Tamil Nadu Government recruits 1032 college lecturers including 14 visually impaired, five hearing impaired and 10 physically disabled to be posted

With this, the government has filled up all vacancies for lecturer's post in governent colleges, except those that fell vacant following the retirement of lecturers on May 31, 2009, an official release here said.

After coming to power in May 2006, the DMK Government has recruited 936 lecturers during 2006-07 and filled 490 backlog vacancies, earmarked for schduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates in 2007-08.

This year, as in the previous years, the Government, through Teachers Recruitment Board, has recruited 1,023 candidates, including 718 men and 305 women, the release said.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, at a function organised by the Higher Education Department, distributed appointment orders to the selected candidates.

Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, Minister for Higher Education K Pondumudi and Higher Education Secretary Ganesam were present on the occasion.

All those who were selected would be given one month orientation to ensure quality education to the students. The orientation scheme was the first of its kind in the country, the release added.
